Coronado is indeed the crown of San Diego Bay. This well-defined, gracious community is built on an island in the bay. The town, incorporated in 1891, shares the island with North Island Naval Air Station. Many senior naval personnel reside here.
Coronado is considered choice real estate. The schools are excellent. Due to its isolation, crime is rare. Connected to San Diego by the large Coronado Bridge and a ferry. The world famous Hotel del Coronado, constructed in 1881, and the largest active wooden structure on earth, is one of several luxury hotels here. Tidelands Park features a hike-and-bike trail near the Le Meridien Hotel.
