JACUMBA

JACUMBA 91934 Jacumba is an Indian word meaning hut by the water. The village is famous for its baths, fed by mineral springs. James McCoy established Jacumba in 1852. He built a fort to protect it from Indian attacks. Legend has it that he held off 500 Indians during one raid.

Jacumba sits near the junction of Interstate 8 and State Highway 98, near the Mexican border.
