Logan Heights is bordered by Interstate 5, Highway 94, 25th Street, and Imperial Avenue. It is one of San Diego's oldest communities. Major streets bear the names of Civil War generals, with cross streets named after Spanish-American War admirals. Diversity of architectural designs abounds, with a mix of single- and multiple-family dwellings.
In recent years the western section has become known as Barrio Logan, with a separate community flair and identity. The San Diego-Coronado Bridge and Chicano Park overshadow some of its most memorable sites in the form of hand-painted murals. Nearby communities include Golden Hill and Shelltown. Logan Heights is a few miles from downtown San Diego.
