A neighborhood marking San Diego's eastern border with La Mesa, it is named for San Diego State University, which is its center both geographically and otherwise. This area is sometimes referred to as College Grove. Many businesses are located along College Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard to cater to the large student and faculty population. The nearby residential area is a mixture of apartments, condos, and single family homes that give some areas a suburban tone.
